Tantrums and Power Struggles

Tantrums and power struggles may be the most frustrating and exhausting challenge we face as parents. Young children can be volatile and unreasonable, and much to our embarrassment it often happens in public! In this workshop, you will learn:

• What current brain research reveals about impulsivity, emotional reactions and rational thought
• Tools for neutralizing and resolving power struggles
• Strategies to minimize the frequency and intensity of tantrums

You’ll also have opportunities to observe and practice these techniques.

For this month’s enrichment meeting, we’ll learn about Nonviolent Communication (NVC). NVC is a language of compassion and empathy that allows us to experience connection with other people instead of conflict. For more information, see The Center for Nonviolent Communication.
